Antonia Price is an artist and educator in Los Angeles with an interdisciplinary background in performance, dance, and visual art. In the spring of 2019 she earns her Master of Arts in Fiber and Materials from California State University Los Angeles. She teaches classes at the university and in community spaces around the city in yoga, dance, and materials art. Her current work combines fiber, bodies, image, and sound to promote physical awareness. She believes that connecting to the body is the first step to developing connection to each other and the natural world.
My latest project studies the possibilities of creating somatic awareness through sculpture and projected video. Central to this work are hand knit spheres and spirals, filled with yeasted dough, that grow, breathe, and decay; at once inanimate objects and animate beings. These forms inhabit an uncanny space between flesh and object that inspires a physical reaction in the viewer, a sympathetic echo of sensation in the skin.
